WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

The PR & Communications Specialist is central to our media relations and content delivery efforts.

While the Account Manager leads client relationships and strategy, you will execute key communications activities including drafting press releases, building media lists, pitching journalists, tracking coverage, and ensuring all content is accurate, polished, and aligned with client objectives.

You will work across multiple client accounts, supporting media engagement, content creation, campaign execution, and stakeholder communications.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations

• Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and pitch notes.
• Build and maintain targeted media lists.
• Pitch stories to journalists, editors, and producers.
• Handle media enquiries and requests for information.
• Monitor media coverage and prepare reports.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with media contacts.

Content Development

• Write and edit press releases, articles, opinion pieces, newsletters, and social media content.
• Prepare briefing documents, talking points, and Q&A materials.
• Proofread and quality-check all communications materials.
• Support the creation of campaign materials and communication assets.
• Adapt content for different audiences and channels.

Campaign Support

• Support campaign execution from planning through reporting.
• Coordinate media engagements, interviews, launches, and events.
• Track campaign deliverables and deadlines.
• Maintain records of media interactions and campaign assets.
• Support campaign reporting and analysis.

Industry Awareness

• Monitor media, industry, and communications trends.
• Track competitor activity and relevant developments.
• Identify opportunities that support client objectives.

Requirements

Essential

• Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
• Membership of NIPR or CIPR.
• Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Understanding of the Nigerian media landscape.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with media monitoring and digital communication tools.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent relationship-building skills.

Desirable

• Four or more years of experience in PR, Journalism, or Corporate Communications.
• Agency experience.
• Existing Nigerian media contacts.
• Experience across FMCG, Financial Services, Entertainment, or Public Sector communications.
• Experience with media monitoring and analytics tools.
